Garden gadgets - hand weeding knife
If your garden has any paving, patios or mono block, this could be one of the most useful tools you own. A hand weeding knife has a thin, angled blade which can be used in two ways: the sharp, flat edge is great for slicing the tops of weeds or scraping shallow moss from the surface of your stones, while the narrow blade goes deep into cracks and crevices to hook out weeds from the root, reaching into tight gaps where ordinary trowels and forks – even a hori-hori – cannot.
Look for one which is durable and well made – it needs to be tough and easy to use. A carbon or stainless steel blade and a comfortable, ergonomic handle of wood or rubber is recommended. Some tools come with an extra-long or telescopic handle, so they can be used from a standing position – ideal if you prefer to avoid getting down on your hands and knees to tackle those pesky patio weeds.
